Before the 1970s, girls in Michigan, like in many places, couldn’t play on school sports teams due to gender discrimination. My cousin could not play in middle school, but the law changed, so she could in 10th grade. She was very good at sports! When my son played on our baseball team, we had a girl who was very good.
