Hello, I am Peter Horton. After serving as a trainer in the U.S. Army, teaching in China, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Michigan and Colorado, and dedicating myself to business and teaching English and ESL where I have taught over 3,500 students from 2004 to 2023, I created this website to provide high-quality English and ESL information, resources, and lessons. My journey has shown me the pressing need for better education, as many schools across America are failing students and parents.

Consider this: Education in America now ranks 22nd in the world for education, and the State of Michigan is ranked 37th within the U.S. Alarmingly, up to 80% of students are not reading at their grade level, struggling with state and national exams. In my experience as a substitute teacher, I’ve encountered students who cannot write, read, or identify the nine parts of speech. Recently, I attended an interview where the school’s website disclosed that only 12% of their students could read at grade level. This is a common scenario where I find that 80% of students are not meeting reading or writing expectations on state and national standards exams in many schools.

However, there is hope. When I teach at schools, I have successfully raised student scores by 20-45 points in just 65 class days. Moreover, I have started schools in China, Korea, and Saudi Arabia, where initially, 90% of the students struggled with reading, writing, listening, or speaking English. Remarkably, within one school year, these students improved their English proficiency by 3-5 grade levels.
