5. The Bathroom

Preview Summary 

In this unit, students learn about the bathroom. 
The bathroom is a room in the house. 
People use the bathroom to wash, clean, and take care of their bodies. 
Students learn new words like sink, soap, towel, mirror, and toothbrush. 
They practice simple sentences such as “I wash my hands” and “I brush my teeth.” 
Students look at pictures, repeat words, copy sentences, draw, and write. 
They listen, speak, read, and write in very simple English. 
This unit helps students talk about daily hygiene and healthy habits at home. 

Mission Statement of the Unit 

Students will learn what a bathroom is, what people do there, and how to talk about it using very simple English sentences.

By the end of this unit, students will be able to: 

  • Point to the bathroom in a picture.

Step 1 – Teacher-Led Introduction (Scripted & Modeled) 

Objective: Introduce the bathroom and its purpose. 

Teacher Actions (Script): 
  1. Show a large picture of a bathroom. 
  2. Point and say slowly: 
    “This is the bathroom.” 
  3. Say the word clearly: 
    bath-room 
  4. Students repeat together (choral drill). 
  5. Teacher models actions: washing hands, brushing teeth. 
  6. Say: 
    “We clean in the bathroom.”
