Mission of the Unit:

Students will explore the relationship between letters and sounds, learning strategies to decode, spell, and understand words, building strong foundational reading and writing skills.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Apply phonics rules to decode and encode words accurately.
  2. Use blending, segmenting, and other phonics strategies in reading and spelling.
  3. Identify and apply phonetic patterns in written and spoken language.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Decode and spell CVC, digraph, and R-controlled words.
  • Apply 25 phonics strategies fluently.
  • Recognize phonetic patterns and use them in reading and writing.
